Always carefully read the Material Safety Data Sheet prior to opening any container or using any material. Also read the label on each container for any specific hazards or instructions. Material Safety Data Sheets are broken down into categories, such as the following, to give you necessary information:
- Section I, Manufacturer Identification
- Section II, Ingredients/SARA III Information
- Section III, Physical/Chemical Characteristics
- Section IV, Fire and Explosion Hazard Data
- Section V, Reactivity Data
- Section VI, Health Hazard Data
- Section VII, Precautions for Safe Handling and Use

- Section IX, Disclaimer
A manufacturer is required to provide a Material Safety Data Sheet on products purchased upon request.
Always wear an appropriate, properly-fitted respirator (NIOSH/MSHA approved) during and after application unless air monitoring demonstrates that vapor/mist levels are below applicable limits. Follow respirator manufacturer's directions for respirator use. A respirator manufacturer can recommend which type respirator is approved for a product by reading the coatings manufacturer's Material Safety Data Sheet. Only the end user, however, can be charged with the responsibility for monitoring the air in their facility for exposure levels. If air monitoring is not done, fresh air supplied respirators should be used.
All equipment must be grounded, and non-sparking tools and appropriate footwear should be used.
Protective creams for exposed skin should be available.
Fire extinguishers, a safety shower, and fire blankets must be immediately available.
Use only explosion-proof electrical equipment, including lighting.
Do not leave any material or equipment unattended.
Ventilation:
Always use any paint product with proper ventilation. Provide general dilution or local exhaust ventilation in volume and pattern to keep the air contaminant concentration below the applicable exposure limit (OSHA PEL) of the components being used. This information is listed on the appropriate Material Safety Data Sheets. All application areas should be ventilated in accordance with applicable OSHA regulations (29 CFR 1910.94).
Waste Disposal:
Dispose of in accordance with applicable Federal, State and Local regulations. Under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) regulations, it is the responsibility of the product user to determine, at the time of disposal, whether a material should be classified as a hazardous waste. Consult your attorney or appropriate regulatory affairs officer for information on proper disposal of all products.
